The Video Game
Hard to believe that it was only in 2005 that LEGO Star Wars entered the world of video games. From movie to bricks, from bricks to game-pad. The original edition “LEGO Star Wars The Video Game” was developed by Travellers Tales for Sony Play Station 2 and Microsoft Xbox. The game is designed for Kids and the events featured are from the prequel trilogy of the Star Wars saga (The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith).
In total a wide variety of 56 LEGO Star Wars characters are playable. Of course you will miss Luke Skywalker and Han Solo cause this game starts at the very beginning of the Star Wars Saga when both have not entered the scene yet. All the playable characters look like actual LEGO parts but move with enhanced mobility. They are unlocked when a level is completed. The central area of the game is “Dexter’s Diner“. From here you enter levels, can view vehicles whose parts you already possess and choose the characters you want to play. At the end of each level you get the chance of “Free Play“. That enables you to replay the level. But now you can change character while playing and even match up good and evil. So you can reach areas you were unable to play before.
The levels of “LEGO Star Wars The Video Game” follow the sequences of the original Star Wars Films. You can experience dueling with Darth Maul, Podracing on Tatooine, piloting a Naboo Starfighter, and battling the droid onslaught in the Geonosian arena. On each level you need to collect “Lego Studs” in order to obtain a piece of the super kit. When you have collected all 17 part the fourths door in Dexter’s diner is unlocked and you can play Darth Vader in the bonus level.
